Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 26 April 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using StrangerChat (“the Service”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service immediately.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”, “you”, or “your”) and the operators of StrangerChat. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Your consent to these Terms is recorded in accordance with Section 6.6.

2. Eligibility

You must satisfy all of the following conditions to use the Service:

  • You have attained the age of majority (18 years or older). Persons below the age of 18 are strictly prohibited from accessing the Service.
  • You possess the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under the applicable law of your jurisdiction.
  • You are not barred from using the Service under any applicable law, court order, or prior suspension by us.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that all registration information you provide is true, accurate, and complete. Providing false information about your age, identity, or demographics is a material breach of these Terms.

3. Nature of the Service

StrangerChat is an anonymous, text-based platform that facilitates temporary, one-on-one conversations between unaffiliated users. The Service is not intended for adult, sexual, or pornographic use. It is designed for casual, platonic conversation only. The Service:

  • Pairs users at random based on stated preferences. We do not guarantee that any particular match request will be fulfilled.
  • Operates as an intermediary within the meaning of applicable information-technology legislation. We do not initiate, control, or moderate conversations in real time.
  • Does not verify the identity, age, or background of any user beyond the self-declared information collected at entry.
  • May include features such as image sharing, GIF attachments, or emoji reactions. The availability of any feature may change without notice.
  • Strictly prohibits the sharing of nude, sexually explicit, or intimate images and videos — whether real, AI-generated, deepfake, or digitally altered — regardless of consent. There are no exceptions.

4. User-Generated Content

You are solely responsible for any text, images, GIFs, or other content you transmit through the Service (“User Content”). By sending User Content, you represent and warrant that:

  • The content does not violate any applicable law, including laws relating to obscenity, defamation, hate speech, harassment, threats, or incitement to violence.
  • The content does not infringe the intellectual-property rights of any third party.
  • The content does not contain personal information of any other person (including phone numbers, addresses, financial details, or government-issued identifiers) shared without that person’s consent.
  • The content does not contain child sexual abuse material (CSAM), non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), nude or sexually explicit images (whether real, AI-generated, deepfake, or digitally altered), or any material depicting minors in a sexual or exploitative context.

We act as a passive intermediary and do not exercise editorial control over User Content. However, we reserve the right — but assume no obligation — to remove, block, or report any content that comes to our attention and appears to violate these Terms or applicable law.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Transmit, solicit, or promote content that is unlawful, defamatory, libellous, harassing, abusive, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory on the basis of race, religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Engage in any form of sexual harassment, grooming, or exploitation, including toward minors.
  • Zero-tolerance policy on minors. Anything related to minors in a sexual, exploitative, or harmful context is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate permanent ban and reporting to law enforcement. This includes but is not limited to: child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind (photographs, videos, illustrations, AI-generated imagery, deepfakes, cartoons, or any other depiction); grooming, luring, or soliciting minors for sexual purposes; sexualising minors through conversation, role-play, or innuendo; requesting, sharing, or possessing any content that depicts or describes minors in a sexual, abusive, or exploitative manner; and directing or encouraging a minor to engage in any sexual or harmful activity. We cooperate fully with law-enforcement agencies and designated organisations tasked with child protection, and we will report any such activity to the relevant authorities without prior notice.
  • Share or solicit intimate or sexually explicit images without the affirmative consent of every person depicted.
  • Share, solicit, or distribute nude, sexually explicit, or intimate images or videos of any kind — including but not limited to photographs, videos, AI-generated imagery, deepfakes, digitally altered media, or any synthetic content depicting real or fictional persons in a state of undress or engaged in sexual acts. This prohibition is absolute and applies regardless of whether the person depicted has given consent.
  • Create, upload, or transmit non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) of any person, including images or videos captured, shared, or generated without the knowledge and explicit consent of every person depicted.
  • Use the Service as a platform for adult, sexual, or pornographic activity of any kind, including sexting, sexual role-play, or solicitation of sexual services.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your age, gender, or identity.
  • Solicit money, financial instruments, or payment-system credentials from other users.
  • Distribute spam, unsolicited commercial messages, phishing links, malware, or any form of malicious code.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service’s infrastructure, other users’ sessions, or any connected systems.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scraping tools to interact with the Service or collect data from other users.
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security or technical measure implemented by the Service.

6. Privacy and Data Handling

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

6.1 Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate the Service: a self-chosen nickname, self-declared age and gender, stated chat preferences, and the content of messages exchanged during a session. We also automatically collect certain technical data, including IP address (stored as a hash), browser user-agent, device type, and page-visit analytics.

6.2 Session Data

Chat sessions are stored temporarily on our servers for the purpose of session continuity (e.g., reconnection after a network interruption). Session data is retained for a limited period and may be used in anonymised, aggregate form for analytics.

6.3 Data Retention and Deletion

We do not retain personally identifiable conversation content beyond what is operationally necessary. Session records are periodically purged. You do not need an account to use the Service, and we do not maintain persistent user profiles.

6.4 Data Protection Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights relating to access, correction, erasure, and portability of your personal data. To exercise any such right, contact us at the address provided in Section 14. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable data-protection legislation.

6.5 Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party providers for image hosting, GIF delivery, and analytics. These providers operate under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their data practices.

6.6 Consent Logging and Audit Trail

By accessing or continuing to use the Service, including by clicking any “Agree”, “Start”, or equivalent action, you provide explicit and informed consent to these Terms.

You acknowledge and agree that such consent may be electronically recorded and retained by the Service as part of a secure audit trail. This may include, without limitation:

  • Date and time of consent
  • IP address or network identifier (in hashed or pseudonymised form)
  • Device and browser metadata
  • Version of the Terms accepted

These records may be used to demonstrate compliance with applicable legal requirements and may be produced as evidence in the event of disputes, investigations, or enforcement actions.

Continued use of the Service after any update to these Terms constitutes renewed and ongoing consent to the latest version.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its source code, design, logos, trade dress, and documentation, is the proprietary property of StrangerChat and its licensors. All rights are reserved.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. This licence does not include the right to:

  • Modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service.
  • Reproduce, distribute, or publicly display any part of the Service.
  • Use the Service’s branding, trademarks, or trade dress without written consent.

User Content remains the property of the user who created it. By transmitting content through the Service, you grant us a limited licence to process, transmit, and temporarily store that content solely for the purpose of delivering the Service.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 As-Is Basis

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

8.2 No Endorsement

We do not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any content posted by users. Opinions, statements, and information expressed by other users are theirs alone and do not reflect the views of StrangerChat.

8.3 No Guarantee of Safety

While we implement reasonable measures to promote a safe environment, we cannot guarantee that every user will act in good faith. You assume all risk associated with interacting with strangers through the Service. You are solely responsible for your personal safety and the protection of your personal information.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • StrangerChat, its operators, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
  • This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of data, reputation, goodwill, or other intangible losses, whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  • In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service exceed the amount of one thousand rupees (₹1,000) or the equivalent in your local currency.

Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In such cases, our liability shall be limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StrangerChat, its operators, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your use of the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
  • Any User Content you transmit that infringes, misappropriates, or violates the rights of any third party.
  • Any harm caused to other users or third parties as a result of your conduct on the Service.

11. Termination and Suspension

We reserve the right to suspend, terminate, or restrict your access to the Service at any time, without notice and without liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Violation of these Terms or any applicable law.
  • Conduct that is harmful to other users or the Service.
  • Receipt of a lawful order, notice, or takedown request from a competent authority.

Upon termination, all provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive — including Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 — shall remain in full force and effect.

12. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

12.2 Arbitration

Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, or its successor legislation. The arbitration shall be conducted in the English language. The seat and venue of arbitration shall be the city where the Service’s registered office is located. The arbitral tribunal shall consist of a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement, or, failing agreement within 30 days, by a court of competent jurisdiction.

12.3 Jurisdiction

Subject to the arbitration provision above, the courts of the city where the Service’s registered office is located shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any matters not subject to arbitration.

12.4 Exceptions to Arbitration

Either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction for matters involving intellectual property infringement, unauthorized access, or breaches of confidentiality, without the need to first submit such claims to arbitration.

13. Intermediary Liability

StrangerChat functions as an intermediary that provides the technical infrastructure enabling users to communicate with one another. In accordance with the safe-harbor provisions available under applicable information-technology legislation:

  • We do not initiate the transmission of any User Content.
  • We do not select the recipients of any User Content (matching is performed algorithmically based on user-stated preferences).
  • We do not modify the content of user communications.
  • We comply with lawful takedown and blocking orders issued by designated authorities or courts of competent jurisdiction within the timeframes prescribed by law.

A designated grievance officer is available to address complaints related to User Content. Contact details are provided in Section 14.

14. Grievance and Contact

For any questions, complaints, takedown requests, or notices relating to these Terms or the Service, you may contact us at:

  • Email: legal@strangerschats.com
  • Grievance Officer: Communications should be directed to the Grievance Officer at the email address above. We acknowledge receipt within 48 hours and aim to resolve grievances within 30 days, as required by applicable rules.

15. Modifications

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available at this page with the “Last updated” date reflecting the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after any revision constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

If a revision materially reduces your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice through the Service or by other appropriate means. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, preserving the original intent of the parties.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StrangerChat with respect to the Service, and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, or understandings (whether oral or written).
